Leaping Arches - Preparation
Submitted by robogeek on Fri, 2008-10-24 23:06.I have been working on getting ready to make the leaping arches 2 weekends from now. I got the idea to make them last year at Florida's Mini-PLUS Convention. It was a day where a buch of us christmas light geeks got together and showed off our stuff and different techniques of making our lights.
I would like to thank Lauderdale Christmas for a great tutorial on how to do make some leaping arches.

Submitted by robogeek on Sat, 2008-10-18 00:33.
Hey everyone,
I am getting really into the additions for this year. I have added 2 New Controllers this year. The Controllers are the DIY Kits from LOR.
With the new Controllers I will be finishing my Mini Trees from last year and Controlling all 15 individually. I am also Building 2 Leaping Arches that will take a whole controller by themselves.
Not the only one in palm bay anymore
Submitted by robogeek on Sat, 2007-12-22 11:25.I had to remove the word "Only" from the welcome page because this year I have learned about at least 2 more animated light shows in the palm bay area. One is in west melbourne north of Palm bay road, off hollywood. The other one is south of malabar.
I apologize that I have not had a chance to come see either one.

Mini Tree Construction
Submitted by robogeek on Sun, 2007-11-11 21:01.
Last year my mini trees were purchased mini trees from target. They were incandecent and had about 50-60 lights per tree. This year I am making LED mini Trees that will have 180 lights per tree.
Hopefully these new Trees will be brighter. Next Year I am planning on adding White Lights as part of a multi channel Configuration on them.
Folowing the break will be detailed info on how I made them.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra Concert
Submitted by robogeek on Sun, 2007-11-04 23:50.I just got back from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Concert. It was awesome, they had cool 'lazer beams' as well as computer controlled Colored flames that fired on beat.
My wife has challenged me to have lasers next year in my show, DMX here we come.
The first half of the concert was starting to get long since they did all their non instrumental songs we don't particularly enjoy. Although, when they got to the second half and turned up the volume to 112 and started doing stuff from the "Bethoven's last Night" album it was great.
At one point they said the following things:
- How many of you are good with computers?
- Lots of Cheering
- How many of you saw the guy who did the Christmas lights in Ohio?
- Not so much cheering... in fact not a lot at all (I cheered)
- How many of you want to see what 75 of our stage engineers can do when they put their mind to it?
- A whole bunch of cheering... most of the arena
Later that night my wife said my lights were better than the stage show.... Thanks wiffie, I love ya.
And with that its time to take advil and go to bed.
Night
